What is a TOP candidate?
What do top candidates have in common?
1) Able to effectively communicate their value, in their resume and during the interview
2) Performance: through their storytelling (oral and written), they are able to stand out with their accomplishments, results and recognitions
3) Progression: they have described how they have grown as an individual contributor as well as a part of a team, they have progressively taken more responsibilities
4) Promotions: they provide facts that demonstrate how they were able to move to management or leadership positions
5) Potential: they are problem solvers, they have researched their target organization and are able to speak about their pain points and how they will be able to help
6) Personal brand: they have a strong package, their image, presence, references, interview and culture fit are perfect for the company
7) Personal skills: during the interview, they clearly demonstrate how they are able to connect with people - their personality shines and is a good fit for the team
When you are preparing for an interview… instead of thinking what you did, think about what you did differently?
How would the potential employer benefit from having you join their team?
The difference between you and another candidate is your own unique value: how you meet/exceed the qualifications and job requirements, your personality, your presentation and interpersonal skills, your business acumen, your technology and/or language skills, the different job experiences you had, you past accomplishments, your ideas about how you would approach this new opportunity.
Make sure you are prepared to discuss all of the above.
